Back home from NZ!

Finally after almost 2 amazing months in New Zealand we're all back home again. It was an epic time and way too impressive to put into words. But one thing we can all say about NZ: ''WE LOVE IT!'' This country gave us a feeling that can not be compared to anything I experienced before. There are candid people all over the place who want to share their experiences, time and everything else with you. We learned a lot during these weeks and finally went home after having made a lot of new friends from all around the world. Our project was supported by a lot of people that tried to help us wherever they could. We are very greatfull for the help and the support we have received! Without you we would never have made it that far! :) While Eric and Sebastian went to the North Island for the Export Extreme 3* FWQ competition, Kai flew to OZ to begin with his next project. We both tried to assort all the footage we collected during our trip and Kai took one copy of it to OZ. At the moment he is trying to finish the final cutting as fast as he can and we are really excited to finally see the outcome of 7 weeks of filming!

The movie will be published as soon as possible and we will keep you updated about the progress!

Cheers

P.S.: @ C.Hill Crew: It's been incredible! See you all in Austria/Germany next winter or in NZ if you don't make it over here! Ride on!

Since a couple of days we have been staying in the stunning Castle Hill Village! This village was our base for the K2 Chill Series 2010. The first part of the competition took place in Craigieburn Valley with really nice weather but icy conditions. Sebastian and Johannes both qualified for the finals on the next day. Both of them tried to improve their ranking on the next day and picked big lines in the icy competition face. After 2 runs they had managed to finish one good run each, but still weren't able to score enough points to progress further to the top of the field. The second part of the competition was supposed to be held at Mt. Olympus. On Saturday the wheather changed and after several hours of waiting the judges decided to postpone the competition and use the wheather day on sunday. During the next day, the wheather didn't change at all and after another couple of hours the competition was cancelled. In the end they got some good points for the 2011 FWR for Sebastian did well in the final and Johannes was ranked as 4th in the end. Some pictures and impressions will follow during the next days ;)! Cheers to all of you!

World Heli Challenge - Part 2

Since Eric already posted some feedback about the World Heli Challenge it's my turn now to provide some more impressions of this awesome event :)!
If you read ''World Heli Challenge'' you first think about a competition for heli pilots, but if you look it up in the internet you'll see that it is one of the most highly esteemed freeride events worldwide. This event is not only about freeriding. It covers a whole week full of extreme activities and brings together the world's best with others who are still on their way to the top. It is amazing how much you can learn from simply hanging around and exchanging experiences with all the others. Whereelse can you go surfing with Travis Rice, muster deer with Sam Smoothy or wreck cars with Aline Bock and Ane Enderud? Watch this video and see it yourself:

During this week we all made a lot of new friends from all around the world. This event has been attracting crazy people since the 90ies and was brought back to life in 2009 after a long break. When we left to continue our trip we were a bit sad, but we are all certain about one thing ... in 2011 you'll hear another ''The Germans are here!'' in the WHC Highlights Video! :)

Check out some of the impressions we collected! (Thanks to Tom Costa and Cameron Spencer for their awesome shots!)

World Heli Challenge 2010 - 7th Place

It´s thursday, last day of competition. The alarm goes down at 6.00 a.m., everybody is super stoked, but when we arrive at 7.00 a.m. in the parking lot we are still on hold, cause there are a lot of clouds up in the mountains. An our later everything is clear and a beatuiful cometition face is presented to us. The face is pretty steep and there a lot of cliffs to hit. Unfortunately its pretty icy and no powder in sight.

I´m coming with bib number 18, I have solid run and I am happy with it. My second turn in the competition face gets the whole snowpack under me going but I am able to manage the sluff and ride it out. My next turns brings me in to the main part of the face where I picked one couloir to an open field. Big turns to the next ridge, its really icy here. :D One last drop at the end and finish. I am super stoked, the othere riders are cheering. In the end I take 7th place. I was hoping for a bit more, buts its a judgement sport and the judges liked something else more. Overall I am still happy I got the 7th place overall in a competition with the best riders in the world like Ted Davenport and Chris Booth. I filmed my run with my helmet cam check it out guys.

Johannes was super stoked too. So excited about his line and everything around him. He had to compete against big names like Travis Rice and Andy Finch, so that you guys have any idea how good the riders really are at this years World Heli Challenge. Unforantely he wasn´t able to get to his starting point, cause the Heli couldn´t land there. So he had to pick a differnet line, which he managed awesome in the begining. But shit hit the fence and he slipped on a big icy field and crashed. Luckily he wasn´t injured and could finish at the bottom. Unfortunately the second run was cancelled, so we both didn't have another chance.

Now we are on our way to go surfing and have some fun..... :D

We spent some days down here in Wanaka for the World Heli Challenge now. A lot of media and big stars like Aline Bock, Ane Enderud or Travis Rice are living together here at Lake Hawea. Yesterday the bib-draw took place. Johannes got the lucky number 1 and therefore will have the first line in the competition. Eric will start as 18th which will also grant him good conditions in the competition face. Tuesdays will be the first heli day for us and we are already super stoked! Check back in tuesday night for more news.

Since a couple of days we have been checking out the clubfields around Christchurch. We put up our base in Springfield on a very small campsite. On our first riding-day we have been to Craigieburn Valley. After some complications with the nutcracker-lifts, we finally managed to get to the top. Mt. olympus was up next. After riding the inbounds-area we decided to hike up into the back-basin. We collected some amazing video material there and sticked some awesome lines. We went home totally happy and Stoked! The next day it was dumping very hard and you could barely see your own hands. But after sitting in the lodge until 1pm the clouds disappeared and we had one of the most awesome powderdays in our lives!

Check out the shots and stay tuned for the next Blogentries!

First Impressions

First Impressions
After a couple of sunny days finally the first snowstorm kicked in, coating the mountains with heaps of powdery snow. While the other guys sat in their planes for 30+ hours, I enjoyed some nice turns on the untouched slopes of Broken River Ski Field. Check it out!

BLIZZARD SKI and TECNICA BOOTS is my new sponsor

What should I say, this year is a year of change. Another really great sponsor is working with me next season.
Blizzard and Tecnica!!

The austrian ski company Blizzard is one of the greatest and most succesful ski companies. They were founded 1945 by Toni ARNSTEINER. Since then they have been very successful in racing sport. The last couples of years they were building all varieties of skies for every condition.

Tecnica is one of the best Ski Boot companies in the world and I know the boots from when I was racing, they are just great.

For me as a Freeride Skier , I need to have reliable equipment, and that is totally what Blizzard can give me. Skis that have the newest technology as well as a great stability. The new freeride series is built with titanium, one of the strongest materials in the world.
Check them out here: Freeride Series Blizzard

For me it is really great to have such a great ski to compete and to have fun with in the back country.

I am so happy that the Blizzard managment has trust in my abilities to support their Freeride Team.

From now on I am on the offical Freeride Blizzard Team, check it out here: http://www.blizzard-ski.com/index.php?id=5#55,0,204,0,0

Thank you so much for your support guys, I hope we have a sucessfull season together!

Eric
